Fort Collins = BEER
Our last stop on our Colorado getaway was in Fort Collins. It's a great little town that reminded me a lot of Iowa City and Madison. The one thing that made me fall in love with this place... beer. There were breweries every where and especially one of my faves the New Belgium Brewery. Home to Fat Tire, 1554 amongst others. More to come on this later!
Fort Collins is a short drive North of Denver. It has a far different landscape then the mountains, more like a desert. I will show you our hike in Fort Collins in my next post.
Our main reason for coming to Fort Collins is that Molly's friend was getting married to a gentlemen who happened to be a brewmaster at New Belgium. Fun for everyone! We were all invited to the rehearsal dinner Friday night at the brewery and then we hit the town with a few of Molly's friends.
You can see Molly was enjoying herself
J & J even had a few cocktails!
The ladies!
We made a pit stop at a real hole in the wall. I don't recall the name of the bar but it was covered wall to wall in bumper stickers. They also had cherries soaked in Everclear that were pretty good and very lethal.

The Lucas St. Crew
This past weekend I had some old roomies and friends make the trip up to Minneapolips. It was really good to see these guys and get after it a little bit.
Coach Mike brought the fam, Kate and little Melanie.

After some horse racing at Canterbury Downs Friday night, a few of us headed into Uptown. We all went to William's (don't eat the peanuts) and had a few beers, and cocktails, and shots (thanks D).
Joe and Pumpkin
Everybody made it over for a little BBQ and fire Saturday night. Some bags, booze, and falling over in chairs.

Coach Tim - Coach Kyle, Derek - Art
Joe and I mopped up against everyone in bags, here we have the losers championship.

We had quite the spread. Thanks to everyone for bringing the grub.
Kate, Pumpkin, Laura, Megan

There were some intense football conversations.
Coach Mike and Coach Tim

And some goofing around.

My Dream Almost Comes True
Surfing the web today and came upon this on CNET. Buck hunter is by far my favorite arcade game. And while Derock is the best player I've seen, I may be able to get in a little practice with this...
Plug and Play Rules!
While it may not be the real thing, $40 is better than $4000
And don't worry Buck Hunter has its own website apparently along with its own culture?!? If you have time you should watch the video towards the bottom.

McCullough Gulch and Poop
I'm way over do for this post, almost been a month since we left the Breckenridge area. I apologize for waiting so long to post this...
We are all about the class, can anyone hear Julie in the background:)
We had a really good time on this hike. It may not have been as beautiful as the other hikes we did like Mohawk Lakes or the 14er but we were all in better health and able to enjoy it. The flowers were beginning to come up, this hike had a really nice waterfall along with a lake at the top.
We made a couple of more friends. We saw quite a few marmot, got pretty close to one.
The hike had some pretty good scenery, and I think we got some pretty good "artistic" shots.
This picture is actually upside down. We passed a pond that was so still you could get a crystal clear reflection image. You are actually looking at the surface of the water here, the shore is up top.
I call this "Uncomfortable Gentleman":) stay classy
On our way we ran into an actual gold mine. Several interesting signs were posted.

Good point Julie!
On a side note I do want everyone to know that we did shower and wash our clothes.

Marge the Barge
Thought I'd start breaking down our awesome trip to Colorado with Marge. Marge was our 2003 Ford Econoline Van and she is special...

Jim got her from Courtesy Car Rental. She was fully loaded, and there was plenty of room for 6. Check out the custom rims! She also had some custom exhaust that made me giggle every time we headed up the mountain. Nothing like glass packs on a conversion van!!
Marge had a DVD player with a pretty large screen that dropped down, unfortunately the sound in the van was terrrible! I forgot to load the power inverter so we couldn't watch movies on the laptop for very long either. Instead we passed gas and laughed at Julie:) I mean Jim.
